Not only are the Filipino men very handsome and romantic but he Filipina girls or Filipina women are world known for there stunning beauty. And some foreign women have finally figured that out the Filipino men can be quite a catch. Filipinas girls, are not only beautiful women but a delight to be around because of the famous Filipina disposition and personality. Some, actually many who marry these Filipina beauties, swear they make the best wives in the world, not only beautiful, but loyal, loving and faithful past death. From living here so long that has been my experience too.

Virginity is sacred in this Catholic country. Women are taught there virginity is a jewel. Filipino men are not interested in marrying a non virgin. I, thought I am not sure I ever dated a virgin until I came here, understand why? I am sorry if that sounds strange or unforgiving. But in this culture the woman is responsible to not only herself but her family for protecting that virginity. She may not even be forgiven if she is raped. I know this is not fair. But that is the way it is and the Filipina girls know it. Many are badly hurt by men who lie and promise marriage, with no intention of ever marrying them. But they are forewarned in no uncertain terms most often. They know the risk they are taking by trusting a man who want to have sex before marriage. Much of my research on this subject comes from a book written by Dra. Lordes Lopez, the psychopathology of the Filipino.

First, the Filipino man is a problem, I feel. Women here get the dirty end of the stick, like in many Asian countries. But in these Asian countries where it happens it is not considered the "dirty end," but a duty. And the women don't necessarily want it another way. They have way of turning the dirt into gold and control.
I mentioned in a previously, a woman who commits adultery can go to jail. But she would not dare. The social pressures would destroy her as it does many mistresses. A man is in de facto pretty much exempt from that law. It may be enforced if the wife has money, status and power of her own. But she will lose face and she loses her husband.

It is a good idea to ask on our Forum at Living In The Philippines Community Forum. Others can tell you how it really works, not just what the US Embassy says, thought the US Embassy does a great job, I recommend you do everything through the Manila office where office hours of the Counselors are longer, and maybe some are more liberal than the local Consulate officer here in Cebu City. I personally have had good experiences with him, admire him for his hard work. But some complain he is very strict. Personally, I like "strict." He is really protecting you, the Filipina and the US Government. And that is what he is getting paid for, his job.

The answer is probably yes. You may want one and she will for sure, if she is the average Filipina. But keep mind, studies show fathers are five times more likely to have children with birth defects.
One recent study has shown that the risk of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down's syndrome rises with the father's age. And the risk begins to increase in men as young as 35. Most guys here are way over that age before they get married. The study is important in that is the first one studying older men who have fathered children with women under 30.
