In this concluding section, I shall attempt to draw constructs about the culture from the diffuse and limited data which patients provide about it. The foci of my discussion are suggested by the remarks of the patients themselves.

It appears that changes in the social and cultural scene have forced previous existing and tolerated ambivalence to a head, forcing confrontation and a start towards resolution. The “trouble spots” which clamor for decisions to be made on the basis of both value choice and psychological reality are the following areas:

1. Belongingness and what economics is doing to it

2. The problem of aggression in men

3. The dilemma of women

4. Adolescent crisis

What still obtains and what appears to be undergoing transition and how these might interplay with psychological factors are speculated upon.
